What an amazing year!!!
The first World Series since 1987! It was a year
that started out with high hopes and didn't disappoint!
They started out slow, but on June 12th finally broke into first place to stay.
From May 27th to September 26th, the Birds went 80-30!!!

I think the
differences from last year were no major injuries for most of the season and the
ability to win the close games. Izzy had a club tying 47 saves.
Although they made it
to the World Series, they just seemed to run out of gas as the Series started in
Boston. I think maybe if they had gotten past that first game with a win,
the Series would have turned out different. However, even if the
Cards would have won the Series, it wouldn't have made a difference because this
was the year of the Red Sox. The Sox would have gotten all the attention
no matter what...
