Eckstein: The Ultimate Underdog!

David Eckstein is only the 4th shortstop in ML history to win the World Series MVP.

Chris Carpenter (184) and Jeff Suppan (104) have over 100 strikeouts.

The new Busch Stadium became only the 6th stadium in ML history to host a World Series game in its opening year.

Carpenter earns player of the week (Sept 11th) honors!

This is the first time in 40 years that the Cardinals haven't played a game on artificial turf.

The Cardinals have been the NL Central leaders on Labor Day for the past five seasons!

 Some of Albert's unbelievable stats!

- Joined Jim Bottomley as the only Cardinals to have six consecutive 100-RBI seasons.

- 4th player in ML history to have 6-straight 100-RBI seasons to begin their careers. (Ted Williams, Joe DiMaggio, Al Simmons)

- Only player in the majors to ever have hit 30 or more HR's in each of his first six seasons.

- Is the only player ever to have scored 100 runs, driven in 100, hit 30 HRs and batted over .300 in each of his first five seasons.

Carpenter and Duncan earn co-players of the week (August 20th) honors!

2006 is the first year since 1969 in which the Cards will not play a game in Canada, ending the longest streak of consecutive seasons played north of the border by a US-based Major League franchise.

The Cards set a club record for the most wins in April with 17... the previous record was 15 set in 2005.
