Highlights:

On April 8th, Willie McGee hits a pinch-hit, walk-off home run on Opening day.

The Cardinals play the Padres in the first ever MLB game in Hawaii on April 19th (doubleheader) and April 20th at Aloha Stadium.

On June 14th, St. Louis plays host to the Cleveland Indians for a day-night doubleheader that marks the first regular season interleague game.  (The previous nights game was postponed due to rain.)

A mid-season trade brings a true power hitter to the Cardinals.  Mark McGwire falls in love with St. Louis and signs a contract extension before the season's over!   But even Big Mac couldn't pull the Cards above a 4th place finish.

(Tell me your highlights from 1997!)

NL Championship: Marlins over Braves (4-2)            World Series: Marlins over Indians (4-3)
