Highlights:

Joe Torre is the NL MVP!!!

They said it... Fun facts:

The "Zamboni" machine is purchased and is one of a kind.  (This is the machine that sucks up the water on the field after a rain.)

The Cardinals selected Cecil Cooper in the 1971 Rule 5 draft, but had to return him to Boston when he failed to make the team out of Spring Training.

Keith Hernandez was the 42nd-round pick in 1971, the 783rd player selected in the draft.  The team's first-round choice that year also was a first baseman, Ed Kurpiel.  Hernandez went on to win 11 Gold Gloves and an MVP award!  Kurpiel never made it to the major league, but did play many years in the minors and may have a claim to fame.  Watch!

The Cardinals introduce Mike Shannon, former Cardinals player, as a member of the broadcast team.  (11/5/71)
